Just as we cozy down this fall to wait out the pandemic, Bracebridge Public Library has released a YouTube reading series to keep you company. Tall Pine Tales, The Covid Edition, is a collection of stories written and read aloud by 17 Muskoka writers, including MuskokaStyle contributors David Bruce Patterson, Wendie Donabie, and Lori Knowles.
It’s an initiative by Cottage Country Writers, a group of authors living and writing in Muskoka and Haliburton. Normally read live at events in libraries throughout the summer, this 7th Annual edition of Tall Pine Tales has gone virtual thanks to Bracebridge Public Library. Librarians videod Tall Pines writers and shared the readings on their channel as a YouTube playlist.
The brainchild of late Muskoka author Melody Richardson, Tall Pine Tales events continue to be planned and organized to sustain her dream of supporting and promoting local writers. From fiction to poetry, humourous personal accounts, suspense-filled short stories, and excerpts from novels, you can now watch and listen to these entertaining bedtime tales at your leisure and from the comfort of your couch.
Part two of the Tall Pine Tales COVID Edition will be presented by Baysville Public Library this coming winter. Watch the Baysville Library’s FACEBOOK page for more information.
