Make A Muskoka Splash

Boho. Cut outs. The minimalist nautical look. Summer swimwear style on the dock, on the boatdeck, and in the lake can be reduced to these three simple, splash-friendly trends. MuskokaStyle tapped the knowledge of swimsuit stylists at Port Carling’s Just Add Water for the edge on these three progressive looks:

The Bohemian

The Boho Festival vibe is back in Summer 2016. Think back to the Summer of ’75: Carly Simon, halter tops, floppy hats, Fleetwood Mac. Bohemian designs from Sperry, Trina Turk, and Nanette Lepore include pom-poms, tassels, and the blanket stitch, plus bright paisley prints, sophisticated crochets, and halter-top cuts. It’s the 1970s SanFran boho dream re-imagined for 2016; one that goes from lake to boat to boathouse bar and back.

The Cut Out

Clean lines and cutaways are especially hot. Revealing just a little bit of flesh, these one- and two-piece creative cut outs from La Blanca and Nanette Lepore are suave and sophisticated, like Grace Kelly or Lauren Bacall by a pool in Cap Ferrat. It’s a symmetrical, sportier shape, but with a softer, more classic look.

The Minimalist Nautical

Blue and white are a timeless duo one simply can’t mess with. In 2016, we’re still with a nautical look, but with a minimalist twist. Sperry’s bikini combos mix blue with white in sporty ways that include geometric shapes and subtle stripes—easy to set off with any white cover up.
